Kyra must make a desperate choice in the face of violence and her own fears of losing her family forever.Characters: Kyra was a fragile girl who was willing to take risks in order to survive her world, and I couldn't help but admire her bravery in horrible times. Just because everyone in the novel lives in a polygamist colony doesn't mean that they were all antagonized. There are strong women and loving men within Kyra's world. Her little sisters were full of innocence and wonder, and the villians were absolutely frightening. But Kyra's other siblings, including her best friend, were barely mentioned. 4 and a half flowers. Writing: Lovely and detailed. You can tell Williams has written other novels. The book is weaved effortlessly. 5 flowers. Plot: You know from the beginning that Kyra has to leave the compound, even when she doesn't. It would've been better if Williams hadn't tip toed around that fact for so long. 3 and a half flowers.
