Parenthood All Thats Left Is The Hugging

Parenthood All Thats Left Is The Hugging
It may have been two weeks since the last episode of "Parenthood", but it's only been one day since the election. Kristina is putting on a brave (sorry) face after losing to Bob Little, but Adam isn't convinced that his wife isn't devastated after having to give up her dream of being mayor. So he does nice things for her, like buying a carton of eggs to vandalize Little campaign billboards. What a man.

The more serious thing that happened that night, Ryan beating the hell out of the drummer from the Luncheonette's band, is the topic weighing the most heavily on everyone's mind. Amber is beside herself with worry over the whole affair - what it will do to her relationship with her fianc'ee, how her friend is doing after getting "savagely beaten", what it means for the band's working partnership with the Luncheonette and her own professional reputation. Everything is at stake for her because of Ryan's massive temper.

Crosby and Adam let her know the band isn't pressing charges, but it might screw up the recording session because the drummer is so badly injured that he can't play. They're concerned as well that Ryan has been hitting Amber - which we at home know isn't the case, but it's not out of line to ask. She confronts Ryan at home about everything that's happened, because he won't talk about any of it. The lying about the pills, the fighting, the money, all of it. She tells him she needs time to think, because she can't live in a bubble with him for the rest of her life. Smart girl.

Julia and Joel are picking up the pieces of their meltdown fight that stemmed from her storming into his place of business and yelling at his hot lady boss when he didn't pick up his phone. Joel is now sleeping on the couch and contemplating a separation, which Julia desperately does not want, so her husband agrees to make an effort. He comes home early and makes pizza for the kids and pretends that he doesn't hate Julia, which is nice. Sydney lets it slip that Ed and his wife are getting separated (because Charlotte's going to have "two" houses now, isn't that cool?), which opens a whole new can of worms for Julia.

She makes the logical decision to go over to his house in person and tell him that she doesn't want him calling or texting her anymore because it's "inappropriate." He assures her that the marriage didn't break up because of her...and then kisses her. But she breaks it off quickly and leaves.

Speaking of bad sexual choices, Sarah sleeps with Carl, the womanizer who lives in the kickass apartment in her building. He's handsome, smart and clearly likes her, so the only thing keeping her back from pursuing this is the fact that she's seen him with a couple 25-year olds. Since she gave him a speech about how she'll never sleep with him again, they'll definitely start dating soon.

Drew is having issues with his friends with benefits, Natalie, because he still doesn't get that it means they're not exclusive. He wants to only be dating her, even if they're not in a relationship...which kind of sounds like a relationship. When he opens the door one night expecting her to be there for one of their sex sessions, there stands Amy. As in high school love, Amy. What could this mean?

Amber trudges home and sits Ryan down. She tells him that she loves him too much not to support him, that she wants to be his wife and have children with him, and help him get through whatever's going on. Ryan has different ideas. He bursts into tears and tells her he can't handle civilian life anymore; he reenlisted in the army to go back to Afghanistan.

Of all the things he's done, this is probably the worst.
