1- ITS BETTER TO SMILE
Apparently, smiling does not insure that anyone will respond to your profile pic, especially the guys.
Women can get away with the smirk or smile much more often than men can. Oh, and if a guy makes a flirty face, he's a goner, no woman wants to see that.
Women who make eye contact, make a flirty face and smile at the camera are much more likely to get a response from men. On the other hand, men who don't make eye contact with the camera and don't smile are much more likely to get a response from women.
Go figure.

2- DONT TAKE A PHONE/WEBCAM SHOT
This is so hard to believe but OKCupid has the data, so who am I to argue? While the success rate difference between phone/webcam shots and regular photos weren't incredibly contrasting, it still proves that an amateur shot works in online dating.

3- GUYS SHOULD KEEP THEIR CLOTHES ON
While it's interesting to note that the percentage of men who take shirtless shots drop off significantly after the age of 30, it is interesting that the guys who take shirtless shots are usually the ones who own six-packs.
Oh, and guys who dress to the nines for their online dating photos don't fare well, either.
And telling us something we already know, the cleavage shot works wonders. Although you can be pretty certain what the men who contact them are looking for

4- YOU HAVE TO SHOW YOUR FACE
Apparently, there are photos of people who's faces are nowhere to be seen on the images and yet they get myriad responses. But then, one is in the middle of a desert, another is deep sea diving, and yet another shows off her sexy legs bound by blue rope. So while their faces aren't showing, their pictures do pique the interest of viewers. That is not often the case with no face photos.
